On October 9th 2004, The Oklahoma State Brain Injury Association (OSBIA) will be hosting “Blues for Brains” concert fundraiser to help raise money to support awareness and provide services for the survivors of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
The mission of the OSBIA is to create a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education, and advocacy.
Each year in the United States, an estimated 1.5 million people sustain a TBI, which is eight times the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer and 34 times the number of new cases of HIV/AIDS; 50,000 people die from a TBI, which accounts for one-third of all injury deaths; 80,000 to 90,000 people experience the onset of long-term or lifelong disability associated with a TBI. The results of TBI vary greatly among individuals.
